Misumi Elementary School

The site on a hill exposed to strong winds led to a particular set of architectural formulas in designing an elementary school. The layout consists of two eccentric circles and a large shallow pool in the center. The majority of the children’s daily activities revolve around these features. The simple spatial composition that provides a double layer of protection for children realizes an entirely new typology of an open campus.
